Secret Seven

IMG_0983My love of reading preceded my love of writing. I have to be honest, if I don’t have my nose in a book, I am lost. With the manuscript of my third novel sitting somewhere on an editor’s desk waiting dissection, I am now free to turn my mind and imagination to my blog. I ponder where it all started, this reading / writing obsession of mine. Of course, it all began where most things begin… at the beginning. When I think back to my childhood, I have to thank my parents for the special gift they gave me – the love of reading. Our home was filled with books and bedtime was always special with the ritualistic reading of ‘Blinky Bill’ or ‘Peter Pan.’ I was transported to other worlds with the dulcet tones of my father’s voice. Growing up when I did, it is not surprising my favourite author was Enid Blyton. I formed my own Secret Seven Society and was the self-appointed president. We met after school in a makeshift cubby house in Christine Kerr’s back yard. We read books and made plans, those plans have now escaped me. I searched my bookshelf recently and came across a book which was a present from my two older brothers, on my 11th birthday. ‘Go Ahead Secret Seven.’
